Imagine Penge - sustainable solutions. An evening of blue skies thinking for all residents, community leaders and local businesses. What is the sustainable Penge we as locals want to see, what is good that we can build on, what changes do we want to see, how will we bridge the gap between how things are now and how we would like them to be? Thursday 7 October 2010, St Johnʼs Church 19:30-22:00 Please let us know you are coming.

The Power of Community - When the Soviet Union collapsed in 1990, Cubaʼs economy went into a tailspin. With imports of oil cut by more than half and food imports cut by 80 percent, people were desperate. This fascinating and empowering film shows how communities pulled together, created solutions, and ultimately thrived in spite of their decreased dependence on imported energy. In the context of global Peak Oil worries, Cuba is an inspiring vision of hope. Thursday 16 October 2010, 19:00-21:30 Kentwood Centre

The Ministry of Food, exhibition at the Imperial War Museum, examines how the British public adapted to food shortages during the Second World War, learning how to be both frugal and inventive on the ʻKitchen Frontʼ. Marking the seventieth anniversary of the introduction of food rationing in Britain, the exhibition shows that growing your own food, eating seasonal fruit and vegetables, reducing imports, recycling, and healthy nutrition were just as important in 1940 as they are today. Saturday 27 November 2010, meet at 10:00 at the corner of Penge High Street and Maple Road (guitar shop). We will take the 176. Entrance into the exhibition £4.95 and concessions £3.95 Booking essential
